Coast FI means you have saved enough that your savings can grow to your retirement target on their own, without adding more money. Use the calculator below to find your Coast FI number and see what your current savings could grow to by retirement age.

Your Coast FI number is the amount you would need saved today for it to grow to your target nest egg by retirement age at the return you entered.

How to read your result

If the amount your current savings will grow to is at or above your target nest egg, you are already Coast FI. If it is below your target, the shortfall in today’s dollars is the extra amount you would need saved today to reach your Coast FI number, and the monthly amount is what you would need to save each month to close the gap by retirement age.

The monthly amount assumes you save at the end of each month and your savings grow at the return you entered. All numbers are hypothetical. Change the return, the target, or the ages to see how the result changes.

What is Coast FI?

Coast FI is the point where your current savings, with growth, can reach your retirement target without more contributions. The earlier you save, the more time growth has to work. Read more in the Coast FI posts on this site.
